Description

The Laggon.

a peaceful mechanical life form it visits different planets. why do you ask ? . to learn . they want to adventure and discover share what they know with the less advanced races.

their technological beauty is only matched by their incomprehensible knowledge. but do not be fooled. they just like us have the capacity of war. just one of these beautiful creatures could wipe entire species out of existence in a single flash.

this took me about 3 hours to do start to finnish once again my own resource but one last item was a texture i got when i bought the Imagine FX magazine from a free dvd

here are the source images i used

As usual your technique is excellent. I especially like your limited palette; focusing on blues and greys and black, almost pastels, with the exception of the machine's thrust, which, while matching the color is far more energetic, making it stand out and the focus of the picture, at least initially.

The landscape is nicely proportioned, giving a sense of scale and distance, especially the mist effects which lend a... possibly cooler atmosphere to the piece, uniting the sky, water and land.

I am not a fan of signatures on work and I think your one stands out, if this was your intent, well done, but I would have placed it in the water, likely in the bottom right corner.

I am not entirely sure the main machine in the image meshes as well with the background as it could, this is likely because of its darker color (And the hints of red in it.) but also I think because of its style; somewhat less detailed then the rest of the image. The machine in the sky and the one in the water have equivalent detail level (The one in the sky if only because of its smaller size.) while the one that is the focus of the image has broad areas of the same color, a smoothness that doesn't quite gel. I would like to have seen some alternate versions with tweaks to these sorts of things, they can be very illuminating, especially since I wonder if the central machine would have the same solidness and impact if it were more detailed or attached the general colorscheme.

Otherwise, excellent work. (Short on boobs, but nobody's perfect.)
